RICHMOND, Va. -- An area of low pressure will track just to our northeast by Saturday night. The circulation around this low will produce strong wind gusts Saturday afternoon and evening across the state. Winds will turn to the northwest and be sustained 15 to 30 mph. Gusts exceeding 30 mph will occur across central Virginia, but there will be some gusts near 45 mph in eastern, northern and western Virginia, where a wind advisory is in effect.
Winds will decrease, from west to east, overnight into Sunday morning. An area of high pressure will be overhead by mid-morning, and this will quickly lighten the winds. Gusts near the coast may still exceed 20 mph through daybreak.
