RICHMOND, Va. -- Colder air is moving into the region via northwesterly winds behind a departing area of low pressure. This air is very dry and temperatures will drop quickly heading into Sunday morning. These temperatures may end up being a little colder than what we saw on Wednesday morning, when Richmond tied a record low of 27°. A freeze warning is in effect for our entire viewing area until 9 a.m. Sunday.
A low of 26° would be the coldest April low since April 4, 1992. If the temperature drops below 26°, it will be the coldest April low since April 10, 1985.
