RICHMOND, Va. – The Byrd Theatre will expand its schedule and begin offering family movies.
The new programming first begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2016 and continues at that time, weekly.
The first six films of the initial run will be chosen by popular demand.
Moviegoers who vote by April 18 will receive a buy one get one free (BOGO) coupon for the series launch on May 21.

The selections range from the 1939 “The Wizard of Oz” to the 2014 “The Boxtrolls.”
“This new film series represents a new step toward the Foundation’s strategic vision for expanded programming that engages diverse audiences throughout the Richmond and surrounding communities,” organizers wrote online.
Also this summer, regular midnight movie showings return.
Patrons may also vote for midnight shows and get a “BOGO” coupon for participating.
The foundation is seeking sponsorship to support new programming efforts. Films scheduled through June 25 are sponsored by Hollyport Ventures LLC.
