Marcus Vick charged with assaulting police officer

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Former NFL player and Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was due in court Monday morning following his weekend arrest in Newport News.

Vick, 32, was charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Obstruction of Justice, WTKR reported.

Details about the incident, which happened Sunday at City Center, have not yet been released. City Center is a shopping, dining and entertainment center in the Oyster Point section of Newport News.

Vick was due in Newport News General District Court for a 9 a.m. hearing.

Vick, who grew up in Newport News before attending Virginia Tech, is the younger brother of former Hokie and NFL star Michael Vick.
