ASHLAND, Va. -- Jay Hall is responsible for putting together the marquee outside Brown Grove Baptist Church in Ashland.

Hall, who also works as a Civilian Evidence Technician for Henrico County Police, chose a police themed message following Thursday's senseless fatal shooting of Virginia State Police Trooper Chad Dermyer.

"Churches are the center of your communities," Hall said. "So this is a great way to show unity and appreciation for the men and women in the uniform who protect us everyday."

Hall would like other churches to post similar messages.

"The only way to cut this nonsense is to STAND churches. Silence is becoming the main killer. If they start taking out the Blue the next is YOU."
