RICHMOND, Va. – Officials have announced funeral and visitation details for the state trooper killed in the shooting at the Greyhound bus station in Richmond Thursday afternoon.
Virginia State Police Public Relations Director Corinne Geller said visitation for trooper Chad P. Dermyer will take place Monday in Hampton. He will be laid to rest Tuesday.

Additionally, a private graveside burial will take place after the service in Gloucester County.
Governor Terry McAuliffe ordered flags at the state Capitol in Richmond and Gloucester County lowered to half staff to honor Dermyer Tuesday.
This is to order that the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia is to be flown at half-staff over the state Capitol in respect and memory of Virginia State Trooper and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Chad Dermyer, who lost his life in the line of duty. I hereby order that the flag shall be lowered at sunrise on Tuesday April 5, 2016, and remain at half-staff until sunset.
Honoring Dermyer
First responders from Chesterfield, Henrico, Richmond, and as far away as Illinois and Alabama, stood together in honor of their fallen comrade Virginia State Trooper Chad Dermyer inside the VCU Siegel Center Friday night.
“Just know that the thin blue line runs far and deep,” a representative from Alabama Law Enforcement said.
Dermyer was shot and killed in the line of duty Thursday after approaching a man during a training exercise at the Richmond Greyhound bus station. The shooting suspect, James Brown III, was then shot and killed by troopers nearby.
Richmond Police Chief Deputy Steve Drew with the Richmond Police Department choked up while speaking to the crowd.
The group had emotional songs like Amazing Grace, joined hands in prayer, and listened to words of support for Trooper Dermyer’s family.
Dermeyer is survived by his wife Michelle and two young children.
The Virginia State Police Association is accepting donations for the Dermyer family. Checks should be addressed to VSPA Emergency Relief Fund and with Trooper Dermyer in the “memo” line. Donations can be mailed or dropped off at the VSPA at 6944 Forest Hill Avenue in Richmond, Virginia 23225. (While a GoFundMe account has also been created, officials pointed out that the crowdfunding website takes a portion of proceeds generated. By donating to the VSPA, all of your donation will go to the family.)
A local state trooper has also organized a fundraiser for trooper Dermyer’s family.
The event will take place at the Riverbound Cafe at 8005 Creighton Parkway in Mechanicsville on Thursday, April 7 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. (The restaurant is located in the Kroger shopping center off Mechanicsville Turnpike.)
The cafe will donate 15-20 percent of all sales to Trooper Dermyer's family. Additionally, a donation box out will be available for folks who would like to drop by to make a contribution.
