Woman struck by car at 18th and Broad has life-threatening injuries

RICHMOND, Va. — A woman was struck by a car at 18th and Broad Streets around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Police said that the woman was wearing dark clothes and not crossing at the intersection.

A person who saw the incident said that the victim was struck at full speed by the vehicle. She was crossing Broad, headed southbound.

Police said that she was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and was interviewed by detectives from the Richmond Police Department Crash Team. The driver was not injured.

No charges filed at this point, but the investigation is ongoing.

Shockoe Bottom has become a predominately residential area over the past 10 years, with a high concentration of residents per square mile. There is a traffic light at the area where the woman was struck.
