HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Eight women arrested and accused of credit card fraud were all inside a local courtroom Monday.

The women were arrested at the Courtyard Marriott hotel in 3900 block of Westerre Parkway in Henrico Saturday night. Court records show the women are from New Jersey and New York, not Virginia.

Nyana Williams, Keonine Mack, Raven Howell, Sarah Torrence, Shawnee Senesie, Khadijah Moran, Shanica Baron, and Jasim Henry were the women arrested.

Seven of these eight women are still behind bars in Henrico, held without bond on credit card fraud charges

Khadijah Moran was released on $15,000 bond. She cannot leave the state.

CBS 6 legal analyst Todd Stone explained that this may be a sign that the alleged credit card fraud in Henrico is part of something much bigger, that could span the East Coast.

“This could be the type of thing that’s going up and down 95, I’ve seen that many times, where they will come down the interstate and hit different locations.”

Better Business Bureau spokesman Tom Gallagher said crimes like this are becoming all too common.

“If somebody's able to take your info and move with it, you're toast,” he said. “This is what they do for a living, they move credit cards for a living,” he said.

The fact that the women are from out of town didn’t surprise Gallagher.

“I'm not at all surprised that they are not from town, these folks go through stops here, go to Suffolk, go to Virginia Beach, go to Raleigh.”

Gallagher said protect yourself and your credit cards even when you’re done with them

“If you have a credit card you want to get rid of, cut that thing up,” he said. “Cut through the numbers, don't let anyone else have it. Destroy it all the way.”

Investigators told CBS 6 the eight women also had a minor with them, so on top of the credit card charges, they are being charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
