PETERSBURG, Va. — State Police bomb squad responded to Atlantic Iron and Metal, located at 30 Mill St., in Petersburg Monday afternoon after the discovery of a grenade, sources tell CBS 6 reporter Wayne Covil.

The discovery happened when a customer was looking through an old ammo box, and the grenade apparently rolled out.

Investigators and State Police were called to the scene to investigate whether the grenade was live.

When State Police arrived they x-rayed the grenade and found it to be a dud, or an explosive round that failed to detonate. There is no danger posed with the grenade.

State Police will dispose of the explosive.
