CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in 2015 has had the charges against him dropped, for now.
Tuesday, the charges against Frederick Yakelewicz were nolle prossed, meaning they are dismissed, but can be brought back at a later date.
Yakelewicz was accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery.
The girl's mother said Yakelewicz was like a grandfather to her.
In October 2015, Yakelewicz’s daughter told CBS 6 the allegations were false.
“They’re ridiculous," Angela Beazley told CBS 6 in October. "My dad would never do that."
Beazley said her father has health problems, and would never hurt a child.
"My dad would rather protect a child than to harm a child,” Beazley said. “I would never believe my dad would do that.”
