RICHMOND, Va. -- VCU Police have arrested a Richmond man who they say recently exposed himself to a VCU student near VCU’s Monroe Park Campus.

Tony D. Morris Jr., 26, has been charged with obscene public display, a misdemeanor. Morris is unaffiliated with VCU.

Police responded to a report of an indecent exposure around 3 a.m. on Friday March 11, in the 1100 block of Grove Avenue.

A witness told police she was walking from her vehicle on North Morris Street to her apartment building on Grove Avenue. A man asked her for directions then subsequently exposed and touched himself. She immediately notified Richmond Police; VCU Police officers were also notified of the incident.

The man was seen fleeing the area in a silver-colored vehicle. Using VCU’s security camera footage, VCUPD investigators determined the license plate number on the suspect’s vehicle and met with him for questioning. He was subsequently charged.

Students, faculty, staff and residents near VCU are encouraged to report all suspicious activity to law enforcement as soon as possible.

Richmond Police is the lead agency on this investigation.
