Woman shot in car outside Chesterfield apartment

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A woman was shot by a man who approached her outside the Falling Creek Apartments in Chesterfield County Monday night, according to police. The woman suffered a non-life threatening injury to her arm in the shooting.

Police were called to the 2200 block of Marina Drive at about 9:14 p.m. Monday.

"A woman was getting into her vehicle when she was approached by a man who displayed a firearm and tried to get into her vehicle," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "As she drove off the man fired a shot striking her. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

Falling Creek Apartments shooting

Police described the shooting suspect has a "black male in his early 40's with no facial hair, 5 feet 8 inches tall, an average build, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt."

There was another shooting at the same apartment complex on Friday March 11, where one man was injured. Police said they did not believe the shootings were related.
