RICHMOND, Va. — The University of Virginia will be a #1 seed in the Midwest Region in 2016 NCAA tournament. Virginia will play the Hampton University Pirates in Raleigh, N.C. The game will tip at about 3 p.m. on truTV.
The Virginia Cavaliers finished the 2016 among the top five college basketball teams in the country. The Cavaliers lost in the ACC title game to the University of North Carolina in Washington, D.C.
Virginia was a #2 seed in the 2015 NCAA tournament and a #1 seed in the 2014 NCAA tournament. Each of those years, Virginia fell to Michigan State.
