Police searching for 3-wheel scooter driver in fatal hit-and-run

PETERSBURG, Va. — Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run believed to have involved a three-wheel scooter in Petersburg Friday afternoon.

Officers responded to the intersection of Court and Melville streets around 3:30 p.m. for a report of a man down.

Further investigation revealed the  man may have been fatally struck by a black three-wheel scooter driven by a young man with a light skin complexion.

Police said the scooter was last seen headed east on North Carolina Avenue.

The man’s body has been sent to the medical examiner to determine his cause of death.

Police have been canvassing the area for clues and ask anyone with information to contact Petersburg-Dinwiddie Crime Solvers at 804-861-1212.
