PALM BEACH, Fla — Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson formally endorsed Donald Trump’s presidential bid Friday, praising the real estate mogul and saying he wants “the voice of the people to be heard.” “I want the voice of the people to be heard. I want the political process to play out in the way that it should play out,” the former presidential candidate said at a press conference in Palm Beach, Florida.

Carson added, “I’ve come to know Donald Trump over the last few years. He’s actually a very intelligent man who cares deeply about America.” Carson said he and Trump had “buried the hatchet” after having several spats while both were presidential candidates. News of the endorsement broke Thursday, and the real estate mogul confirmed Carson’s support during a GOP debate hosted by CNN. “Having his support, really, it just adds total credence to what I’m trying to do and to what we’re all trying to do,” Trump said at the news conference, introducing Carson.
