Suspect arrested after double shooting at Southside apartment complex

RICHMOND, Va -- Police have arrested a suspect following a double shooting at an apartment complex in South Richmond early Wednesday morning.

Investigators were called to the Manchester Lake Townhome Apartment complex at around 12:50 Wednesday morning for a shooting. The complex is in 2200 block of Mandalay Drive in South Richmond. When they arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

About 10 minutes later, another man arrived at McGuire VA Medical Center on Broad Rock Boulevard. He also had a gunshot wound. The man had driven himself there from Mandalay Drive, which is about four miles away.

The second victim was then taken to VCU  Medical Center. Both men had non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said said both men were shot in the 2200 block of Mandalay Drive after witnesses told detectives what they had seen.

Police charged 25-year-old Aaran M. Capek, of the 500 block of W. Grace Street, with attempted murder and use of firearm during the commission of a felony.

At this early stage of the investigation, detectives are not prepared to release additional details about this case.
