GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. — Greensville County Sheriff Tim Jarratt has confirmed the two men wanted after fleeing Virginia State Police troopers have been captured. Jarratt thanked Virginia State Police, Sussex Sheriff’s Office, Southampton Sheriff’s Office, Game and Inland Fisheries/Conservation Police and the Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department for their contributions in the apprehension.

No other information about the capture has been released at this time.

Two suspects were considered armed and dangerous.

Jarratt said Virginia State Police attempted to  stop a car on I-95 around 10:15 a.m. when a pursuit began. He said the suspects crashed their car on Otterdam Road in Greensville County and then ran into the woods.

Witnesses around the area of Purdy and Jarratt reported seeing SWAT teams rolling in.

Jarratt said residents should use extreme caution since they do not know if the suspects are armed.

“We are treating this as an unknown armed situation, so please practice extreme caution if you should come in contact with these individuals. Please call 911 if you have any information pertaining to this or see these individuals. Do not try and approach these individuals,” the sheriff’s Facebook page warned.

The suspects are described as a black make male wearing a navy blue hoodie and a white male wearing a white t-shirt.

Jarrett said a perimeter has been set up and that dogs and planes are assisting in for the search.

In fact, the plane did spot the pair and law enforcement believe they have changed clothes.
