Richmond, Va. -- A big change in the jet stream across North America will produce a big change in terms of our temperatures.  Although the weekend's high temperatures are below normal, we will see a warming trend from now through the end of the week.

Highs will reach the low to mid 60s Monday, the lower 70s Tuesday, and close to 80° Wednesday and Thursday.  A cold front will slip southward across the area on Friday, causing at least a small drop in temperatures, especially north of Richmond.  This front may actually lift back northward over next weekend, allowing warm air to surge back across the area into early next week.

Not only will this be the warmest air of the year thus far, but it will be the warmest air in over four months.  There is the chance of possibly hitting 80°, and if that occurs, it will be the warmest high temperature since early October of last year.  It will also be about a 55° jump from the chilly lows we saw Saturday morning.
