HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — Henrico fire crews helped rescue a horse trapped following an accident along I-295 in Hanover County Saturday morning.
It happened just before 10:45 a.m. on the interstate when the trailer broke loose, rolled into the woods and overturned.
“Henrico Fire units were able to stabilize the accident scene with a rescue winch while veterinarians calmed the horse,” Henrico Fire spokesman Captain Daniel Rosenbaum said. “After clearing the trees and brush from the door the horse was led out of the accident scene to a new trailer for transport.”
The horse was reportedly uninjured, but was being checked out by a veterinarian.
