RICHMOND, Va. -- A warm front is lifting northward through the Commonwealth. North of the front, it is cold and foggy with some showers. South of the front, temperatures are rising quickly through the 60s. The atmosphere will grow increasingly unstable this afternoon and the risk of severe weather will increase.
Scattered thunderstorms will move through the state this afternoon into this evening. The best chance of storms in the metro will be between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Thunderstorm chances will decrease this evening, and lows tonight will be in the 40s. Thursday will be windy with highs in the low to mid 50s. Colder air will be in the region for the end of the week with highs in the 40s Friday and Saturday. Highs will warm back into the 60s Sunday into Monday before a cold front passes. There may be a shower Monday, but cooler air will return for Tuesday.
