(WTVR) – After six public hearings on the future of the 60 acre Boulevard site, the city of Richmond has now published an on-line survey asking residents and the public their thoughts on the best use of the land in question. The survey can be found on this link:

Todd “Parney” Parnell, the Chief Operating Officer for the Flying Squirrels has sent out the survey link to the team’s fans, along with an email thanking them for their show of support during the public hearings.

“At the first meeting at the DMV, 200 people expressed a strong opinion for baseball on the Boulevard and just 5 expressed a desire for no baseball” Parnell wrote.  “We have said from the beginning that the site can accommodate both baseball and other uses as part of a public-private partnership.”

Parnell estimates that overt 600 people in all turned out to the 6 public hearings held by City Council, with an overwhelming majority expressing their interest in building a new stadium on the Boulevard site. Parnell is asking those who attended the meetings, and those interested in the team in general to fill out the survey and make their voices heard.

“If people want baseball, and sports in general as part of redevelopment on the Boulevard, they need to express that by taking the survey” Parnell said. “This is extremely important! And pass it around to those you know who want their views to be heard”.

The survey will be live until February 29th.
