NEW YORK — Angela Raiola, better known as “Big Ang” on VH1’s reality series “Mob Wives,” continues to battle cancer in the hospital despite media reports that suggest she died on Wednesday.

A tweet posted to her official Twitter account dispelled rumors that the 55-year-old is dead.

“Angela is still in the hospital surrounded by her loved ones, and is fighting,” the statement said.

Here’s the full statement:

“The news that has been reported is TOTALLY INACCURATE. Please respect her family, and their privacy at this time,” a representative said in a statement. “All of the media outlets currently reporting (her death) are reporting FALSE INFORMATION. .. Angela is still in the hospital surrounded by her loved ones, and is fighting.”

The “Mob Wives” matriarch began chemotherapy in early January for stage 4 brain and lung cancer. Weeks later, a doctor’s prognosis showed that chemotherapy wasn’t working.

Big Ang appeared on “The Dr. Oz Show” on Tuesday to her hopes and depression as she battles cancer.

It’s destroying me,” Raiola admitted, “Instead of it getting better it’s getting worse.”

“Mob Wives” follows a group of Staten Island women and their families. The cast members, who usually live tweet during episodes of the show, were silent Wednesday night.
