Driver, passenger dead after crash at South Richmond intersection

RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond Police Department has identified the two victims in Sunday’s fatal collision in South Richmond.

Felipe Estebar, 28, of the 1700 block of Clarkson Road and Albino Velazquez-Perez, 30, of the 1500 block of Clarkson Road both died.

At approximately 5:13 p.m., police said that Estebar was operating a Honda Civic westbound on Clarkson Road, traveling through the intersection at Warwick Road, when a Ford Expedition traveling northbound on Warwick Road struck the Civic.

Velazquez-Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. Estebar was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The two occupants of the Expedition were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Warwick Road has the right-of-way at that intersection, police said.

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is still investigating and is in consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
