Black History Month – Book Signings – Virginia’s African American Authors

RICHMOND: Book Signings - Virginia's African-American Authors is the product of Richmond Public Library, Black Male Emergent Readers Literacy Program. The book signings will feature fifteen of Virginia's African-American Authors on Wednesday, February 17 from 5pm-7pm at the Main Library, 101 East Franklin Street.

In addition to meeting the authors and learning more about them and their books, the program will present a discussion of the book " Leveling The Playing Field - The Story of the Syracuse 8". In 1970, eight players from the Syracuse University Football team changed the course of history and took a stand against the coach and athletic department's discriminatory practices. Clarence McGill, one of the Syracuse 8 will open the discussion "Is there a change in direction within the struggle?"  at the book signing.
