Man reaches into register, filches cash from Carytown Martin’s

RICHMOND, Va. – On Feb.3, an hour before closing, a man robbed Martin’s Food Market in Carytown.

Richmond Police said the man took the money from a cash register just before 11 p.m.

He waited in line and struck when he saw an opportunity.

When the customer in front of him paid and the employee opened the register, the suspect reached into the open drawer and took cash, police said.

He was seen leaving the area on foot towards Ellwood Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male, 40-50 years of age, 5’8” tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He is bald with a grey goatee.

Detectives ask anyone with any information about this man’s identity to call Third Precinct Detective William Cutshall at (804) 646-1068 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
