Body of missing Missouri 3-year-old found inside van; autopsy ordered

IRON COUNTY, Mo. — Authorities in Missouri found the body of a missing 3-year-old boy on Wednesday following his disappearance early Tuesday morning.

Titus Greyson Tackett disappeared while wearing only a diaper. He was found on Wednesday inside a van about a half-mile from his grandfather’s home, where he was last seen.

A person who lives at the home where the van was found spotted the child’s body around 11 a.m and called police. A blanket was draped over the child’s body inside the vehicle, according to KTVI.

Police did not say how the child got inside the van.

An autopsy will be conducted on the child’s body to determine if there was any foul play.

An ambulance arrives on the scene. The EMS worker did not take anyone to the hospital.

The 3-year-old wandered away from his grandfather’s house near Lake Killarney.

Tiffany Thomlinson said the family realized the boy was missing around 1 a.m. The family also found the front door had been opened.

Temperatures in the area have been below freezing since the boy was last seen.

Titus lives in Potosi with his mother and grandmother. He was visiting the area when his mother left him at home with his grandfather.
