SASKATOON, Saskatchewan — A story of a man who went incredible lengths to save his fiancee’s life is trending online. A friend of the couple posted their story on Facebook as part of a Valentine’s Day contest by hotel chain Delta Bessborough.
Christian Wellenborg underwent surgery to give his kidney to his fiancee, Errin Tollefson, on February 5. Before the operation, Wellenborg shared the story on Facebook.
“While surgery is never a fun experience, this is all for a good cause,” he said. “If all goes well, tomorrow I will donate a kidney to my beautiful fiancee Errin Tollefson, my perfect match in love and in life.”
He said she brought joy into his life, and it was his turn to give life back.
The surgery was completed successfully and the two are recovering. They will be getting married later this year.
