RICHMOND, Va. — The NFL honored the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School in Richmond with a Golden Football. The football symbolizes Maggie Walker’s inclusion in the Super Bowl High School Honor Roll as a school that has contributed to Super Bowl history.

Maggie Walker’s Golden Football is in honor of Willie Lanier, a member of the Class of 1963 from Maggie Walker High School.

“As we mark our 50th Super Bowl this season, we are celebrating the players and coaches of the past 49 Super Bowls and their high schools and communities that have positively impacted our great game. Nearly 3,000 players and head coaches, and more than 2,000 high schools will be recognized this season,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said.
