CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va -- Several customers were left without power Thursday morning after a car hit a power pole. At one point, almost one thousand customers were in the dark.

The accident happened just after midnight at the 7500 block of Hopkins Road. Police said a pickup truck slammed into a power pole, snapping it in half.

At the peak of the outage, about 984 people were without power.

By 6:30, that number had dropped to three.

Crews closed the stretch of Hopkins road while they completed the repairs. A detour was in place. CBS 6's Jasmine Norwood found while there was no black ice on Hopkins Road where the crash happened, there was ice on the roads on the detour.
