HENRICO, Va. – There will be four public meetings held in Henrico to discuss improving the county’s pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure.

Bike Walk RVA has advocated for more bike lanes, sidewalks, and multi-use trails throughout Richmond and Chesterfield County.

The organization said that they have seen those counties “take huge steps toward becoming walkable, bikeable localities, and it’s time for Henrico to follow suit.”

For example, in Chesterfield, approximately 24 miles of sidewalk has been constructed since 2013. Since then, projects on Cogbill Road, Deer Run Drive, Charter Colony Parkway, Genito Road, Hull Street Road and Osborne Road have added sidewalks to help people better move through the community.

“Over the last several years, the county had seen an increase in the number of requests for sidewalks,” said Chesterfield County Transportation Director Jesse Smith.” Residents are wanting a more walkable community and have shown an interest in improving how they get around the county.”

Bike Walk RVA would like to see such bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure projects in Henrico, and will host four meetings to take place between Feb. 10 – Feb. 24.

“We want to hear from you– do you want to be able to bike to work, walk to school, or cross the street more safely? We want to know!”

These are considered informal happy hours and food and drink will be available.

The first takes place in Innsbrook from 6 – 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 10 , at the Capital Ale House, 4024 Cox Road.

The second meeting takes place in Lakeside from 6- 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 at Final Gravity Brewing Co., 6118 Lakeside Avenue.

The third meeting takes place in the Broad and Libbie area from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at The Answer Brewpub, 6008 W Broad Street.

The final meeting is in Varina from 6- 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Carini Italian Restaurant, 3718 Williamsburg Road.
