RICHMOND, Va. – City crews are continuing efforts to plow and treat city streets in residential neighborhoods.

The city warned that “while residents and motorists may not see asphalt on some streets, the goal is to have city roads passable by the end of tonight’s [Tuesday’s] shift.”

City schools though, announced they would remain closed Wednesday.

The city said that narrow streets which may not be able to accommodate the snow plows will be treated with chemicals.

When possible, residents should park off the streets to provide snow plows more room to operate and to prevent vehicles from being snowed-in, the city requested.

City property owners are responsible for the removal of snow from a public sidewalk that is adjacent to their property. Resident can file a complaint by calling 3-1-1 and a city inspector will investigate the issue. If the inspector finds a violation of this section of code, a notice of violation may be issued to the property owner who will be given a certain amount of time to abate the violation.

If a city resident falls because of snow or ice that should have been cleaned, they should see this link.
