RICHMOND, Va. – A Richmond man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred early Monday morning at the Illusions Night Club.

Trevell A. Harvey, 27, of the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue, was arrested Tuesday morning in a joint effort by Henrico County Police and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force.

He was taken into custody without incident and charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.

A booking photo was not yet available.

At approximately 1 a.m., shots were fired inside the club located in the 6300 block of Midlothian Turnpike.

Several Richmond Police officers, who were working off-duty there, entered the club and discovered the body of Jerquell Cheatham, 21, of the 700 block of Everett Street. He had been fatally shot on the dance floor.

Officers also identified two others who were injured; a male with a gunshot wound, and a female who had been struck by a car in the club parking lot. She was trying to flee the club after gunshots erupted, police said.

Both persons were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Harvey’s previous rap sheet includes assault, drug and firearm charges dating back to 2007.
