RICHMOND, Va -- Especially in the cold weather we've had recently, it can be tough to leave the warm comfort of a hot shower. You certainly do feel the heat later, though, when your water bill comes.

That's where a new "smart" shower head comes into play. The shower head is designed to help you cut down on your water use. It recently made its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show.

It's called the Hydrao Smart Shower. The shower head uses LED lights to show a user how much water has been used.

By synchronizing the shower head with a smart phone, a user can set intervals for the shower -- like three, five, and seven gallons. Then, it changes color as a person showers.

Interestingly, the shower head is powered by water. A small turbine inside generates electricity.

According to Mashable, a ten-minute shower can take up to 50 gallons of water.
