RICHMOND, Va. -- The mother of 12-year-old Amiya Moses, the Richmond girl killed after being hit by a stray bullet outside her home in December, has established a scholarship fund in her daughter's name.
She plans on raising the money through a co-ed basketball tournament -- that will be played tomorrow.
The tournament begins at 4:30 p.m. at Huguenot High School. Tickets are $10.
The plan is to award scholarships to seniors who want to major in criminal justice or forensics.
Dwight Jackson and Shaquille Maxwell are charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Amiya.
The 12-year-old was shot outside an apartment complex on Old Brook Road while she was visiting friends. Police said she was not the intended target.
The shooting remains under investigation.
