STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — A 35-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl while he was staying at her family’s home after a bonfire a day before Halloween in Stafford County. David Alan Schwartz, of Woodbridge, has been indicted on one count of object sexual penetration by force and one count of aggravated sexual battery, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies received a report on Nov. 15 that Schwartz had sexually assaulted an 11-year-old female. Deputies said Schwartz was a friend of the victim’s family.
“Detective Jason Dembowski initiated an investigation which revealed that Schwartz had been at the victim’s home in Stafford for a bonfire on the night of October 30, 2015,” Sgt. Eric Quinn, Public Information Officer for the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, said. “Schwartz stayed the night at the victim’s home. At some point during the night Schwartz sexually assaulted the 11-year-old victim.”
Officials said the victim told her mother about what happened a few weeks later when the child found out Schwartz would be going to a party the family was planning to attend.
The child’s mother then called the sheriff’s office.
Schwartz is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
