HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A Henrico breast cancer survivor says she’s been forced to spend months of uncomfortable nights in her apartment because her landlord wouldn't fix her leaky roof.

Tammie Hamrick said it's been a nightmare inside her Hunt Club apartment.

She contacted CBS 6 Problem Solvers to get some results for her.

“There is the hole in the ceiling,” she said. “I can’t sleep in my bed."

When it rains, Hamrick says she’s force to sleep on the coach because of the hole above her bed.

A Henrico breast cancer survivor says she’s been forced to spend months of uncomfortable nights in her apartment because her landlord wouldn't fix her leaky roof.

Tammie Hamrick says she’s been forced to spend months of uncomfortable nights in her apartment because her landlord wouldn't fix her leaky roof.

“I pay good money. I work hard for my home. I want to be able to sleep in my bedroom in my bed.”

Hamrick showed CBS 6 video of the leaks to prove what it's like inside her Henrico apartment.

“Every time I watched the news and they said it was going to rain... I could just cry because I knew what I was in for again,” she said.

Hamrick says she's filed countless complaints since she moved in last September. She even shared the emails she sent on her phone.

“It shows where I submitted it on the 23rd. The put the status as an emergency, but then they put the work order status as completed.”

She says nothing changed.

“I was told to move my bed,” Hamrick said. “That was the solution."

CBS 6 problem solvers got involved and contacted her landlord about the leaky roof in her apartment. Within 24 hours, Hamrick says she started seeing results.

“It took you calling,” she said. “People have tried to get a hold of me. I have had emails, people showing up at the door."

Hamrick said she can finally sleep soundly in her bed, now that crews have fixed the issues.

“I thank you all so much... so much,” she said.

CBS 6 spoke to the Hunt Club apartment's manager Thursday. They said they fixed four holes on the roof causing leaks in Hamrick 's apartment. They also said they will patch the hole in Hamrick's bedroom and paint the ceiling tomorrow.
