HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A Henrico man was charged with larceny, assault and driving with a revoked license after an incident in Short Pump. James Russell McWilliams, 35, was arrested Saturday night at a home on Pathfinder Circle in Henrico’s West End. Earlier that evening, police said, McWilliams was in Short Pump.

“Loss prevention observed a male, later identified as McWilliams, enter a dressing room with clothing and exit without the items,” Henrico Police Lt. Chris Eley said. “Loss prevention attempted to detain McWilliams outside of the business. McWilliams assaulted the victims and fled in a vehicle.”

Those victims were able to give police the license plate number of the vehicle McWilliams was last seen driving. That information lead officers to Pathfinder Circle.

“Officers recovered the stolen items and McWilliams was charged,” Eley said.

The alleged crimes took place in the 11800 block of West Broad Street. That address comes back as Short Pump Town Center. Police have not yet said at which specific store the crime took place. Anyone with additional information can submit a news tip here.
