December 2015 will go down as the warmest December ever on record (since 1880) for Richmond. The monthly average temperature was 11° above normal.
It was also the 8th wettest December on record, coming in 2.68″ above normal.
Other milestones:
- The low of 65° on December 24th is the warmest low temperature ever recorded in any December
- Only 6 days had a temperature near or below freezing. This ties the record from December 1972
- 8 days had a high of 70° or warmer, breaking the previous record of 7 from 1956 & 1998
