HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — Area law enforcement agencies are working together to get drunk drivers off the road this holiday season.

Officers will be on the lookout for intoxicated drivers by setting up sobriety checkpoints and conducting additional patrols along the Route 1 corridor Saturday night.

“Many adult parties will be occurring during this weekend which can increase the potential of having intoxicated drivers on the roads and highways,” Henrico Police spokesman Lt. Chris Eley said. “This regional joint operation is part of an on-going effort to pro-actively address drinking and driving issues within the metro Richmond area. This goal of this operation is to make our roadways safer for those who work and live within our communities”

Participating agencies include Virginia State Police, Chesterfield County Police, Colonial Heights Police, the Hanover Sheriff’s Office, Henrico County Police and Richmond City Police.
