Richmond, Va. -- After some warm temperatures early in the week, a strong cold front passed through Virginia Thursday night. Colder air will continue to filter in for a good portion of the weekend. Highs Saturday will stay in the 40s, which will be below the normal of 50°. The coldest high so far this month has been 51° on December 7.
Lows Sunday morning will dip into the 20s area-wide with some isolated upper teens possible. If the temperature drops below 26° at Richmond International Airport, it will be the coldest temperature since March 7.
The cold air will not be with us very long. Warmer air will return this week with highs closer to 60° Monday, near 70° Wednesday, and in the 70s on Thursday. A record "warm low" temperature and high temperature may occur that day. A cold front will pass through on Christmas Eve and cool things down just a little for Christmas Day.
