RICHMOND, Va. -- It has been a very rough year for Karen White. She lost her husband this year while she waged her own battle against breast cancer. She had recently finished her cancer treatments when Cheryl Miller arrived at her North Richmond home. All month long, the CBS 6 news team will be in the community, helping people through random acts of kindness. We hope those who are helped will be inspired to pay it forward. "We came here to give you an act of kindness," Cheryl said when Ms. White answered the door. "We've heard you've had a tough year."
"I had no one to ask [for help]," Ms. White said through tears. "I was like, 'oh my gosh, my grandkids won't have a Christmas.' Now they will. I just thank you so much."
Ms. White called Cheryl an angel when she received a gift card to help cover costs over Christmas. Ms. White agreed to pay it forward.
