RICHMOND, Va. – A local organization is counting on generous donors to help make Christmas brighter for the less fortunate.

Have A Heart for the Homeless is still collecting winter items and toiletries.

The gifts will be distributed at the annual Christmas Eve party held at the complex on 112 N. 5th Street, in Richmond.

The group still needs volunteers to help wrap gifts between Sunday and Christmas Eve.

They also need more donations to serve as many people as possible.

“We need those warm coats, hats, gloves, socks, scarves,” said Joe’ll Chancellor.  “We got creative this year and we asked for food gift cards too.”

They also need toiletries, book bags and blankets.

“I'm happy with what we have thus far but we are supporting 500 plus people,” she said. “We need to talk to coworkers family friends -- and coaches talk to your players, and bring things down.”

Drop off supplies at Dzine Detail at 2900 W. Clay St, Richmond.

Call 804.909.4090 or write haveaheart4thehomeless@gmail.com with questions, and to volunteer.
