WASHINGTON — Photos showing a Fort Hood soldier and his K-9 partner recovering in the same hospital room after they were injured in Afghanistan are going viral.
Officials with the 89th Military Police Brigade posted on Facebook that Spc. Andrew Brown and his K-9 partner Rocky were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated early last week.
One of the photos shows Rocky tucked into a hospital bed with a Purple Heart attached to his collar.
“Rocky and his handler are staying in the same room right now as they are receiving treatment for their injuries,” a Facebook post Wednesday read.
Officials posted Friday that family members were waiting when Brown arrived at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
“They are both very thankful for your thoughts and prayers and are in the process of heading back home,” the post Friday read. “Please remember them, as well as all our Soldiers deployed around the world, during the holiday season. Proven in Battle!”
