Cousins arrested after shooting Richmond woman, taking phone and cigs

RICHMOND, Va. –Richmond Police officers arrested two people minutes after they robbed and shot a woman on the city’s south side overnight Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Dec. 9, at approximately 11:53 p.m., RPD officers responded to the 400 block of Westover Hills Blvd. for a report of a person shot.

An adult female victim was located and transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. She told officers she was shot during an armed robbery by three individuals in which jackets, cell phones and wallets were taken from her and two of her friends.

Minutes later, an RPD officer spotted two people fitting the description not far from the crime scene. Although they attempted to flee, they were quickly apprehended by police.

All the stolen property was recovered.

The suspects, Carsino Johnson, Jr., 20, of the 2200 block of Apollo Road and Jasmine Johnson, 23, of the 3200 block of 5th Avenue have been charged with armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police said they are cousins.

Detectives are working to identify and locate the third suspect.
