Suspect arrested for deadly March shooting on Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. — Police have arrested a man for a deadly shooting on Richmond’s Southside that happened in March.

The Richmond Police Department announced Wednesday that 19-year-old Alexander S. Briggs of the 2400 block of Flint Street has been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Officials said he is not related to the victim, David Briggs, who was found wounded in the 2100 block of Bradford Road on March 29 around 1:40 p.m.

Briggs was transported to a area hospital where he died of his injuries.

Officers spotted the suspect, who was wanted in connection with the homicide, near Ruffin Road Tuesday. He attempted to run from the officers, but police said he was apprehended without incident.

Police have not said what prompted the shooting.
