CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. –Tolls on Pocahontas Parkway are set to rise beginning January 4, 2016.

The company announced to toll will rise from $3.25 to $4.00 at the Main Plaza and from $1.50 to $2.25 at the Laburnum/New Market and Airport Drive ramp toll points.

Tolls on the Parkway were last raised three years ago, in January 2013.

They said the increase is in accordance with the Virginia Department of Transportation.

“Increased toll revenue will go toward operations and maintenance of the road, and to pay for the cost of financing the road,” said Mary Ellin Arch, spokeswoman for Pocahontas Parkway.

A major resurfacing of the Parkway is scheduled for 2016-2017.

The company, which supports itself entirely by what drivers pay, said the money will go towards operations, maintenance, and financing costs.

Multi-axle vehicles will pay $1.00 more per axle over the $4.00 toll at the Main Plaza, with the maximum toll $8.00 for six axles or more. The $2.25 toll at the Laburnum/New Market and Airport Drive ramp is the same for all vehicles, no matter the number of axles.
