HENRICO, Va. -- Police are investigating after a body was found in Henrico, around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

A male body was discovered in the 5800 block of Colwyck Drive, according to police.

Search and rescue and the Henrico Fire department assisted police and retrieved the body from the East Gate Lake, not far from a section of Gillie Creek in East Henrico. The lake is in a residential neighborhood.

Family and friends of missing man James "Pooh" Green were at the lake, watching grimly as the scuba team extracted the body.

Green, a father, was last seen in this area on Friday Nov. 13.

It could be as late as Monday afternoon before the medical examiner positively IDs the man found.

"My grandson said, 'Pop there's a body,' and I said that ain't no body, son,” said Pastor Joseph Brown.

But when they went to take a closer look, they discovered the grim truth.

They could see a belt and make out enough characteristics to know a call for help needed to be made.

“I was ready to head out for dinner and it changed my plans-I had to call police," Brown said.

"We are handling this as a suspicious death, cause of death is unknown,” said Lt. Greg Dillard.
