RICHMOND, Va. — A gunman carjacked and robbed a woman near Richmond’s Chimborazo Park early Wednesday morning. Police are now looking for neighbors or businesses that may have captured the suspect on surveillance cameras.
The woman was stopped at a stop sign along at 32nd Street and East Broad Street at about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday when the gunman tapped her passenger side window and motioned for her to unlock the door, police said.
“He got in the vehicle and demanded to be driven a few blocks away to Chimborazo Park. There he stole cash, a mobile phone and credit cards before fleeing on foot through the park towards the dog park area,” Richmond Police spokesman James Mercante said. “The suspect is described as a black male, mid 40’s, 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a dark complexion. He was wearing a wool cap, denim jacket, tan or light-colored shirt and dark trousers.”
No one was hurt in the crime. Detectives asked anyone with information to call First Precinct Detective Brian Taylor at 804-646-0689 or call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
