RICHMOND, Va. — Police released a security photo of a man wanted for questioning after a woman’s body was found in the woods. Police called the man a person of interest in the November 16 death of Ashley Davis.  Davis’ body was found in the woods across from her St. John’s Woods apartment in South Richmond. Police were called to the 1000 block of Finchley Place just after midnight when neighbors heard gunshots.

“We don’t have a detailed description of this individual beyond what can be seen in the photograph,” Major Crimes Detective Jamie Baynes said. “But we hope that someone will recognize his distinctive clothing, including his hat, patterned sweater and gold rimmed glasses.”

The man in the photo was last seen in the 5700 block of Hull Street.

For at least an hour prior to the homicide, a 2000-2006 Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe with a roof rack and tinted windows was parked on or near Finchley Place, Richmond Police previously released. It was described as being light in color, possibly tan or champagne.

Anyone who recognizes the man was asked to call Detective Baynes at 804-646-3617 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
