DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va.  — One month after the premature birth of their son, Dana Griffin-Graves and her husband Arkell shared photos of baby Kaleb with the world.

“It’s official, Kaleb is 1 month old and we are so grateful,” Dana posted on the Arkell & Dana’s Baby Bun Facebook fan page. “Thank you for the continued prayers, they are working! Here are the 1st photos we are sharing with his Facebook family. Thank you Kidder Connell Photography for capturing these moments.”

Earlier this week, Dana provided her Facebook fans with a health update on little Kaleb.

“We’ve experienced challenges with his lungs, his feedings, his breathing, CSF and several other issues, but God is able to turn it all around. His feedings were suspended for a few days because his stomach wasn’t tolerating the milk, but now they’ve increased his feedings to 3 ML every 4 hours. He is still breathing with the ventilator, but we are starting to see improvement and asking God to continue to reduce and then eliminate the support that is needed,” she wrote. “Kaleb’s insulin and blood pressure medications were removed. We know it is because of the prayer request and God’s Grace that brought us this far. God has given us Peace and Confidence in Him. We have our dream after so many nightmares. Now we are believing God for the total package, a healthy, active and vibrant baby, not just for Kaleb, but I am believing God to do it for every baby that has been shared on our Page! He is a prayer answering God!”

Viral Baby Announcement

Kaleb was born October 20, 16 weeks before his due date and just a few days after the announcement of his “miracle conception” went viral on social media.

Dana and Arkell, of Dinwiddie,  made international headlines in October when they posted their emotional pregnancy video online. Dana said she and her husband started trying to have kids after they got married 17 years ago,  but gave up after delivering a stillborn baby at six months and four miscarriages.

While the couple adopted son Keelyn, who they recently referred to as their first miracle, they believed they would never have a biological child of their own.

As time passed and their hearts began to heal, Dana recently started walking with her friends, but she wasn’t losing weight like they were. So she went to the doctor. That’s when she found out she was five months pregnant.

“I was ecstatic,” she said. “We hadn’t planned anything, we weren’t trying.”

So she started thinking of a way to surprise her husband with the news. The mommy-to-be put literal buns in the oven, and next to the buns, she placed a sonogram picture. When Arkell realized he’s going to be a dad, his reaction was perfect.
